Friends of Istokpoga meet to hear about hydrilla treatment, canal dredging
Special to the News-Sun
LORIDA - The Friends of Istokpoga will hold a fall general membership meeting at the Lorida Community Center in Lorida at 7 p.m. Thursday. It is the start of a new season on Lake Istokpoga.
The speakers for the evening will be Erica VanHorn from Fish and Wildlife Commission Aquatic Plant Management Group and also Carl Smith from Highlands County Weed Control Section. They will give an update on the hydrilla treatment that should be happening at the end of November or first of December. They will also give an update on other vegetation that they are treating.
County Lakes Manager Clell Ford will also speak at the meeting and bring members up to date on the canal dredging project. He should be able to answer any questions about this project and hopefully give a firm date for the start of it.
Attend the meeting and support the Friends of Istokpoga Lakes Association. Bring friends, neighbors and anyone who is interested in keeping Lake Istokpoga pristine for now and later generations to come.
There will be refreshments served starting at 6:45. There will also be a membership table where 2010 dues can be paid.
